    Northerner Order Question/problem

I am trying to check out with my second order ever at northerner. Their site has a sidebar shopping cart, which shows my total as $145.xx. However, when I click on "show cart" my order total changes to $205.xx. Actually adding the prices up reveals the total should be the $145.xx price.

I contacted customer support and they told me this behavior is correct and the difference is VAT and taxes. Is that correct for a US customer? I don't remember this difference with my last order.

Also, it is only allowing me to choose UPS for shipping. Does anyone know if there is a certain cut off I need to be below to use Swedish Post?

    Thanks,

There is a cut off for using swedish post. I do not remember exactly what that is. VAT prices should be higher than USD, as VAT is a tax in Europe. Do you have your currency in the right hand panel set to USD? I've never seen this happen with any of my orders at Northerner.

US orders should not have tax added. You may need to report it to your state, but that's on you not the vendor.

Sounds like your currency selector is set wrong.

There seems to be a small bug introduced that causes the currency converter not to stick between pages. I think you might be looking at the full cart view with a different currency from USD when you go there.

All prices shown in other currencies are just visual anyway, the card is always charged in USD and is based on the USD price on the site.

We will fix this issue as soon as we can.

Regarding your shipping question...there you can only order so much before Swedish Post is not an option.

Taxes and VAT are not applicable to US orders and are not added.

Thanks for the reply Northerner, and everyone else. I have a screen shot here: http://www.photos.thelethbridges.net...screenshot.jpg

Hopefully that can help you track down the bug. So if I check out, which price will I be charged? I hate to click "submit order" with the higher price showing. It does say my currency is US dollars.

Also, could you tell me the cut off for Swedish Post, I would cut the order size down until I was under that limit, if I can.

          Thanks,

I put through a $66 order not including shipping lat night that used Swedish Post. So it is somewhere between that and where you are.

Take out your bonus items and see what happens...

Ha! That was it Shownarou! I should have seen it, it as I had realized the difference was exactly $60.00. Thanks for the help, at least I can tell Northerner what is causing the issue.

In case it helps anyone else, the cut off for Swedish Post seems to be 51 cans of snus.

                Thanks,

Yeah, the bonus points don't show properly at the checkout page. They actually add the bonus points to your total.

I used 120 bonus points my last order. Imagnie my surprise when my order was in the 260 dollar range. Subtracted 120 from the total and that is the total I got in the little right hand cart menu.

Btrip, did you go ahead and place your order and, if so, was it correct? This is getting aggravating. I can't reply to support emails from northerner and I think someone different is answering my inquiries each time reply using the web form (my next submission will be my fourth). Thus far I cannot get a solution or answer on how to submit the order with the correct total. I can't see clicking that I agree to pay the charges if they are $60 or $120 more than the actual price.

I think I am going to order what I can from Getsnus and try one more time to get this straight for the snus that Getsnus does not carry.

But since the credit card part is the last part, where is the risk? If the total isn't corrected, don't put in your credit card info

When I went to order something using my bonus points it said I had used 180 points.

In my cart it said it cost 180 bucks.

I clicked check out and it was only the shipping cost, thats all.

Seems like a minor glitch up until CC info.

                          Hi again,

The totals on the very last checkout page should be accurate and what is charged to the card. This should also match what is displayed after confirming the order and getting the order breakdown at the Payex payment screen. So whatever is there is charged to the card.

Please also know that in any case of a mistake we will refund the money if we have over-charged you.

We are still ironing out some display bugs regarding bonus point prices and apologise for any confusion it causes.

Regarding our helpdesk email system....it is usually the same person every time that answers the emails unless of a very technical nature that requires the assistance of an IT person. Also note that if you are finding you don't receive emails from us it is because either your ISP blocks our mail server or the mails are ending up in the trash can. If you suspect your ISP blocks our email then just use the contact us form on the site and tell us your email address and we can ask the ISP to unblock us. This is the unfortunate side effect of internet providers trying to block spam. Also leave another email address for us to contact you on (hotmail or something etc).

I'd also like to point out that there is a full time helpdesk person that answers emails and queries every single day and we never ignore anyone! If you are finding us unresponsive then please leave a secondary email address to reply to at the helpdesk when messaging.

                            Hi Northerner,
I did place the order minus the bonus products, but the points are still there and I will get the bonus snus on my next order. After reading your post (and Grim and Sage) I realized I could have safely gone further in the ordering process and seen if the issue resolved itself. Who knows, maybe Claq Qui will be one of the bonus choices when it is time to order again!

I hope you would not consider it rude to make a suggestion from a customer's point of view, though. The Customer Service email system is a bit frustrating. I understand the use of the web form to reduce or eliminate spam. When the reply is sent, having an email to which the customer could direct follow up questions would be much easier than returning to the web form. That way the previous communication could be carried in the emails and it would not seem that the customer was starting over each time.

Thanks for your interest in one customer,
                            NonEntity/Tim
