"Best by" date on Snus from Northerner

Twice now I've received individual cans of snus from Northerner where the "use by" date on the bottom of the tin was within days of when I received the package.

Has anybody else noticed anything like this? Should it still be alright to use? (I don't go through it very fast, so this tin of Lucky Strike I have here might well be a few weeks past the date by the time I'm done with it.)

I noticed that when I used to order Lucky Strike from Northerner. Sometimes they used to pop me in a couple of free cans too. I guess they don't shift as much of it as the other brands. Even the best before dates are closer on cans of Lucky Strike from Buysnus (although not as close as Northerner) I find General is always very young when I order it. I guess it must be really popular.

I guess the Snus should be ok as long as it hasn't passed it's best before date although not quite as fresh as it could be.

I know this may sound a little daft, but, is it possible that you are reading the date wrong. The european way of dating something is day-month-year, but, in the US month-day-year.
      ?
The "oldest" snus I have been sent had a month left on the best before date. That was my first order. More recent orders tend to have 2 to 3 months left. How long to they give at the time of manufacture I wonder?
I have only used Buysnus so far.

Minimum time left for me was 3 weeks, maximum was nearly 4 months. The average is about 2 months.

At this moment, I'm snusing a portion of Skruf Stark, that was best before April 20 and, by mistake, didn't see the freezer or my mouth earlier. It's still enjoyable.

As long as your snus doesn't taste weird, there's nothing to worry IMHO.

        Cheers!

It's definitely dated for June 27th 2007, unless you crazy Europeans have 30 months in your year. (really though, I'm familiar with European dating schemes. I could see where you might bring that up though!)

And this time it's Lucky Strike miniportions, but last time it was a different brand (though I can't remember off the top of my head which it was).

The problem is not Northerner it seems, I have experienced the same thing with other webshops. It seems there are no problem with larger brands like "General" but smaller onces like "Lucky Strike" tend to have shorter expiry date. Smaller producers of Snus seems to have this problem because the turnaround speed of their stock is much lower which cause shorter expiry date if they end up having larger snus storage.

I wouldn't worry to much about expiration dates with lucky strike, the can is hermatically(spelling) sealed. Air (oxygen) is the enemy.

ya the European dating scheme really had me messed up for a while the first time i bought some snus. I was like damn why is most my snus already old. Had to think about it for a bit.
