   ****ing hell... I tell you, if there's one thing that Canada inherited from the English, it's a bureaucracy that doesn't know its arsehole from its earhole! No wonder parcels only randomly get charged - it depends on the guy who's working and which book of rules he's reading from, lol!
ps - Zero - what are you going to do when you get back to Canada (if ever!)
that's the magic question, isn't it? I've not decided, but it will probably involve either an application to CSIS to work in intelligence, some sort of renewable energy entrepreneurial venture, a move into federal politics, becoming a hermit, or perhaps teaching at a University. I'm undecided, why do you ask?
Actually, I wasn't asking about your career aspirations, I meant to ask you what you were going to do about procuring snus once back in Canada. Good career ideas, though 8)
ah, right  My brain is all over the place... context sometimes escapes me. :? As for snus, I guess I'll just buy it like I do here - european tax or canadian tax, doesn't much matter. The price isn't that different, really.
Just a final addendum to the Canadian taxes and duties on Snus. If you live in Ontario, there are no provincial taxes to pay on snus brought in by mail. You'll still have to pay federal duty (5%), GST (6%) and excise tax. The excise tax is $.054 per gram of snus. As far as I know, there is no special duty rates for snus, as snuff is listed as "tobacco" in the Excise Act.
