      SNUS DURABILITY

It can be said that moisture and taste is used to measure the durability of snus. Moisture is important for the snus to be experienced as fresh. Therefore, it is always recommended that the products are kept refrigerated as much as possible and that they are not exposed to heat.

Heat changes the moisture and aromas of the snus. The durability of the products is significantly better in unopened package. The snus must therefore be used before the printed “best before” date on the packaging, which guarantees the freshness. If one wishes to keep snus for a longer period of time the best repository is the freezer. Here snus can keep the same moisture and taste for at least a year.

I'm not about to take advice from the worst snus producer available, v2. Regardless of how many seasoned snus-on members that freeze the snus, it's not right. Any connoisseur knows that you want the freshest product available, you don't see cigar smokers freezing their cigars, and you certainly don't see high class chefs freezing foods. When a fridge is recommended for snus, why freeze, 'just because you can?'

Swiss post took 9 days, 4 cans in the package.

You really are clueless, aren't you.

For everyone else, sorry for the skank. But i get irritated when clueless newbies talk trash about companies they know nothing about.

stew.12, I'll put my frozen 10 month old snus up against your 10 month old can that has sat in a refrigerator any time.

Oh, and one last point, this is from Swedish match's website, you gonna say they are more clueless than you now???

What is the best way to store Swedish snus?

[b]Snus is perishable and must be stored in a refrigerator for best shelf life. When stored correctly, the shelf life for moist loose snus is 14 weeks, for moist portion-packed snus 20 weeks and for the dry assortments (CatchDry) 30 weeks. For longer storage, we would recommend freezing, which is excellent up to one year. [/b
]Then, we recommend that the cans be vacuum-packed in airtight freezer bags. Snus in cardboard cans should be thawed in the refrigerator so that the condensation does not undo the glued seams in the cardboard can or the label on the outside of the can.

What do you have to say now stew.12, we are all waiting for your next, I know so much statement.

Forgive me for my nastiness. I try desperately not to do that here.

But do understand. I take this place seriously. So many newbies come through here. And I don't like when false or misleading information is posted here.

I corrected you, and you pushed back, and you attacked the one company who takes the time to actively participate here. Who actively solicits feedback from many users here.

Did you know that Patrick with V2 participates here? Do you even realize that V2 also makes Thunder, just the beginning of many new directions that V2 is trying to go?

Again, I am sorry for going into attack mode. But next time, take the time to really learn about what you are talking about when you post like that,

Apples and oranges, my friend. I wouldn't freeze a cigar, either.

But I do freeze snus that I'm not going to use by the best before date. No difference at all.

Oh, and while it's on my mind, Stew, don't be too hard on V2. Offroad is definitely a budget snus, and it's not the greatest, but have you tried Oden's? V2 is making leaps and bounds lately when it comes to making a more 'premium' snus.

I've never frozen snus, not even a single experimental can - even though some cans regularly are slightly past their expiration date when I consume them.

Freezing just doesn't seem right for food. All commercial frozen food products are filled with artificial flavors and anti-freezing agents to be consumable. I wouldn't call myself a gourmet but I always heavily prefered even canned food to frozen food.

Now, if I suddenly started hoarding snus, more than 60 cans at a time, I surely would put some of them in the freezer. Snus is not so damageable. It's already dried, ground, pasteurized, mixed with soda, and flavored. Freezing will not really hurt the product and many long-time-snusers, especially those who usually place big orders, regularly freeze their snus with no ill effects.

                          Cheers!

                            Again, from the horses mouth.....

"When stored correctly, the shelf life for moist loose snus is 14 weeks, for moist portion-packed snus 20 weeks and for the dry assortments (CatchDry) 30 weeks"

So if you always use your los before 14 weeks, or your portions before 20 weeks, there is really no need to freeze. As anyone here who knows me knows, I have had upwards of 90 cans stored in the past, usually between 40 - 60 at any given time, much of my stash goes beyond the 20 weeks before I used it.

Why I said I would put my frozen 10 month old can up anytime against a can that sat in the refrigerator for 10 months. As Swedish Match will tell you (and somehow, I kind of figured they have learned what they are talking about). A can left in the refrigerator for 40 weeks would be dry and very bad.
