Drug candy must stay out of Europe
    Tobacco companies stoop even lower

Drug candy must stay out of Europe

Tobacco companies have to find new, inventive ways to market their products, as it is simply becoming difficult to hook consumers on the highly addictive life-suckers with the negative mindsets and advertising regulations.
The solution is being test-marketed in the USA as we speak. R.J. Reynolds, owner of the brand once heavily criticized for the child-appealing cartoons of Joe Camel, is taking one step forward, with tobacco flavored candy, including Camel sticks, minty tobacco stripes, and flavor dissolvable tablets. With one dissolvable tablet reportedly yielding 300% nicotine found in one cigarette - users who take too many can get nicotine poisoning.
What is going on? Is this really acceptable to our society?
"Really, what you're doing with kids actually, it's kind of like a gateway drug," Dan Smith with the American Cancer Society said. "You're getting them addicted to nicotine, which then leads them to possibly wanting to do other things."
While critics are coming down hard on R.J.Reynolds for this latest commercial project, representatives of R.J.Reynolds are highlighting the fact that there is no second hand smoke, and no waste issue involved.
The same company has also marketed cigarette substitute Snus to children, reportedly producing advertisements including slogans such as “air guitar-friendly” (clearly adult orientation right?).
Europe needs to regulate, and ban these products from finding their way to European markets. Nicotine is highly addictive, and there is absolutely no value to these products other than acting as a gateway to cigarettes, and even worse, harder drugs.
We call upon the EU Institutions to do their duty. Ban now, ban forever.

Dammit! Can you say shoot yourself in the foot?! Nicotine products are already under enough scrutiny by our government! Why give them more ammunition?

On the bright side, maybe this will take some attention off of trying to outlaw the mailing of tobacco products! But I doubt it.

I uploaded a pro snus comment about 5 min ago and it hasn't uploaded yet...must mean he is reading them before they get posted up...lousy way to run a railroad if you ask me...then again the server could just be overloaded with pro snus comment

I just posted again and it still is not posting...wonder if something is wrong with the website or my computer but this is what I said...

I apologize if this double posts but seeing as how it's been approx 10 min and it has not posted I figured I would post again. I quit a 10 year habit of smokes with Snus and they have saved my life. I no longer feel bad in the morning and can breath freely again for the first time in about 8 years. I am sorry if the fact that these products have "flavor" offend you but adults enjoy products that taste good as much as children do. Should we blast cleaning products and just about any other product on the market for using bright colors and remembered slogans to sell their products? Beer uses pretty horses and wine has wine coolers and we even have "hard" lemonade but when a tobacco company actually tries to sell a product they are demonized for using tactics that any marketer would suggest. I got an idea...be parents and talk to your kids about smoking and tobacco use instead of relying on someone else to do it for you.

Be careful with whatever you post on the website above. He is for sure reviewing and editing your posts. I don't believe he changed anything major in my post but it was not word for word what I wrote. Just make sure you re read what you posted and be vigilant.

Just like Soda Companies or Red Bull sponsoring snowboarding to get kids hooked on caffeine sugar and guano right?

In 20 yrs we will be talking about the effects of these 'ok' products as we age.

I want to see them stick a thunder frosted in their face and talk to me about this. It's candy flavored, right?

Can't an adult also enjoy candy? This should be a parental problem, not a legislative one.

There you go with that personal responsibility, and accountability again. What are you, some kind of anarchist? :^S

i like how people still hold on to the gateway theory.....key word being THEORY...the World Health Organization did a study in the 80s or 90s and said marijauna use doesnt make people want to try other drugs that urge increases with age...same with nicotine ive never smoked a cig and thought to myself ...hey id love to snort some powder.....

Yeah, RJR may as well be giving away GHB lollipops at your local schools. Surely the EU will be all over this. Soon you won't be able to buy anything without their approval.

I saw a t-shirt once with the EU logo on it. It said "The New Europe: Reminding You Why Your Ancestors Left the Old Europe."
