Could somebody please explain why cigars are always treated differently from all other tobacco products?

It's the same difference that there is distinguishing cigarettes flavored with menthol vs cigarettes flavored with cloves.

            err...wait a sec

              Sure...
              Because politicians do cigars.

Different reasons. Cigars are still seen as more "sophisticated" and as such "smarter" and "richer" people smoke them. There is also the argument that they are inherently safer than cigarettes since the smoke is not being inhaled directly into the lungs. But to argue that a cigar is in any way safer than snus would just reveal you to be a hypocritical, ignorant twat.

You know... this may just be wishful thinking or pipe dreaming... but there may be a civil liberties issue here.

If cigars are not classed with other such risks, or vice versa, one could make the claim that the tobacco laws unfairly favor the rich.
And I don't think it would be difficult to prove.

                    Civil liberties?

This is Washington State we are talking about. Ever hear of click it or ticket? Yep, we need law enforcement to ticket people for not wearing seat belts. Here you get pulled over for that it is not a secondary offense.

My point? We need the government to take care of us because we are too thick in the skull to take care of ourselves.

Oh crap never mind. I am just to upset to even be coherent!

Give 'em an inch and they'll take a mile. Laws usually start with limited goals that everybody agrees with, but evolve over time to give the state more and more control.

Money is to a politician as crack is to an addict. They get very protective of "their" money and don't want even one penny going elsewhere. It's state vs state, county vs county, state vs Fed - a real battle to see which one can get more of our money.

For the love of **** man!! This just pisses me off to no extent.

I do know (umm....I mean I heard from a friend, yeah, that's it) that if you order something not within what is legal and it comes from overseas, if it is confiscated, you can simply not respond to the customs letter (you would be dumb to do so) and it will just go away with no penalties. There is that whole loss of money from buying whatever it was you ordered.

Luckily for me, the SC governor just admitted to runnin around on his wife with an Argentinan broad!

Maybe the Statehouse has more pressing issues on their hands to worry about BS tobacco laws...fingers crossed! 8)

Cigars were starting to take a big hit too.
That's why I switched to snus in the first place.

The jokes on me but I'm not laughing.

                              Two words:

                              Better lobbyists.

So why the f**** didn't the snus guys hire one of us???? More than a few here could make sure that the politicos understood what's at stake. Maybe let slip the idea of organizing folks to picket them cause they are trying to send folks back to the death sticks. You know, scare em a bit with talk of all our political muscle.

Seriously though, why didn't the snus folks have lobbyists too. Or at least someone from the companies coming here to bug us to get off our duff and scream when it really mattered...when the bills were still in committee.

I only found out about all this sh** AFTER it was too late. Hell, it had even passed the house before I heard. WHY?????????????????????????
