As an aside, those of you screaming "them damn liberals ain't getting no tobacco taxes from me, ah'yuk!!!" aren't helping the cause at all. It is precisely this kind of thinking that motivates governments to crush tax-free tobacco shipping methods in the first place.

It's the kind of thinking that refuses to pay 23$ for the same thing that costs 4$ without the taxes or 8$ for something that costs less than 3$ without tax. Oppression of tobacco users is nothing new, it's been happening since the weed was introduced to the west and people have worked around it for hundreds of years. People are greedy and exploit a great pleasure of others for their own gain. Nothing new to see here across history but it is an outrage to see the scope of it in the USA now. There's no frontier left to move on to unfortunately.

If they want to put a felony on a producer of society with no criminal record that contributes a huge amount of legitimate taxes let them. They will only destroy themselves by killing off all the producers (actually they won't die but will move elsewhere as we will see industry do if cap-and-tax passes). Once it all shakes down there won't be an oppressor with any power left to do anything since they've destroyed the very base that gave them any power to begin with. The more the govt squeezes the weaker it gets.

To be sure, I do not agree with the current American tax policy on tobacco products, which is aimed more at discouraging tobacco use than at raising revenues for the state/federal government.

Nevertheless, increased tobacco taxation has been a common strain in contemporary American politics, and has tended to enjoy widespread support among politicians - including that of Republicans. The yokels that would love nothing more than to blame this process on us liberals really ought to get their facts straight...

Myself, I'll just pay the taxes. I love my snus, and would happily drop $100 per can rather than go back to smoking or, worse, give up nicotine altogether.

Where to begin?

I am so glad someone is willing to pay $100 for the privedge to use Snus to quit smoking. Probably is also willing to pay $20 a gallon gasoline to drive too (if his skateboard has a motor attached).

I do not mind paying reasonable taxes. When a legal product is over taxed and the penalities for importing a legal product made to rival the penalties of possession of minor narcotics - the Government is going to create an underground economy or loose money to population migration to less oppressive areas.

I do not believe taxation of tobacco is to reduce it's use. Taxation of tobacco in hard economic times is just a way to tax a soft target. People already addicted will pay insane prices and the gain will go to "Uncle Sugar" and many of those addicts are already on the borders of poverty.

I live in Mobile Alabama and I travel to Seattle at least twice a year. Ive been looking for a job there and thinking about moving. The WA state snus law is bullshit. If any of you have problems ordering snus to WA, **** them, Ill oder it for you and ship it to you in WA. I send my friends stuff all the time like spices, moonpies, or other shit they can't get up there.

mmmmm moonpies :P i live one state down from washington and luckley for now its not a felony to order snus. and FYI a yankiee is someone that lives in the northeast.. ... when i lived in mississippi for two years all i ever heard from the people there was go back home you yankiee well after a geography lesson and a history lesson most of them changed there tune some even apologized. i had one dead give away one my car that proved i was no yankiee but no one ever picked up on it it was the licensee plate 8) sorry for getting off topic here

i noticed that the new law specifically prohibits internet and mail orders. however, the law does not mention phone orders.



so as a workaround, washington state residents should be able to order over the phone from getsnus.com
