Probably because Cigars are more of a rich-mans tobacco. So when they put money into Lobbyists and Politicians pockets, they make sure to exclude that.

Cigar makers have a strong lobby from FL. It also helps that the makers are generally of Cuban descent. Congress likes Cubans.

That almost seems too easy. I hope you found a legitimate loophole; that would be great :^)
it seems legitimate to me :-P i wonder how much it would end up costing me to go ask a lawyer.

That's a good loophole. Orders by phone aren't causing anyone to ship something to you which was ordered by mail or over the internet.

Just hope that sellers don't start denying everyone in WA just in case.

I remember seeing somewhere in the law or the summary where it defined internet to include phone orders as well. Reason I posted somewhere here that one could potentially write a letter to a friend or relative asking them to order for you. I don't mean to kill your enthusiam... I copied and pasted it either in this thread or Panic Order From WA State thread. There was also a statement in summary of the bill that says the target of the law is WA State tobacco vendors. Feel free to PM me in the months to come for a progress report, as I intend to keep on ordering. I wouldn't worry until you hear something in the local news about a consumer going to court. I'm very doubtful that will ever happen, personally.

This is WA Roo, tobacco related crimes are handled differently; the people in the weird black and white cloths with the silly hats string you up, spout off something about you being a witch, then proceed to burn you at the stake while people cheer. Still makes the news though, entertainment section, so I will keep watching KOMO.

Buying tobacco is a felony. What a bunch of crap.

This has nothing to do with protecting children, and everything to do with protecting their precious tobacco taxes...

roo is right, here is a quote from the house bill report. it is a statement from those who opposed this bill becoming law:

"Retailers do have a problem with Internet sellers, but the bill will only hurt current Washington licensees who ship tobacco products. They are licensed and easily subject to sanction. The bill will not affect online retailers because of the difficulty of enforcement against them"

                  http://apps.leg.wa.gov/documents/bil...20HCW%2009.pdf

so... we should be good to go. unless the attorney general runs out of people to prosecute we will be safe.
