    General Store finder

I was thinking about the pact act and if i would be able to get any type of snus locally so i chekced out the store locator out on general's site. Of course i don't have anything in my area but i did find a few stores within a 2 to 3 hrs drive. Not great, but if worse came to worse it would'nt be a big deal to me to go couple times a year to get stocked up. General an't my favorite snus but it's not bad and if forced i'd rather stick with general than return back to dip.

I'am wondering how up to date general's website is. Curious if other members have used the site and actualy went to check the stores that were listed out. What was your experiences, did the store actual still carry general? Was it within it's freshness date or expired, what about price and selection? Did they have all the different varieties of general available? A place called the tobacco pouch in tulsa,ok is the closest one to me, anyone ever been there?

I'll be calling these places up on monday to see what they can tell me but still wanted to know what other ppl experiences have been with getting general within the usa without using mail order.

You might want to see if anyone locally sells General's line of Cigars. These people might have it, or would be able to get it without too much hassle. Cigar shops with General's line (Cohiba, Macanudo, etc.) are the only retailers able to carry General snus. A general rep in my are told me this was because of problems with display refrigeration units and may change in the near future.

I have 2 places within a 45 minute driving distance from me that sell General..

      Here is the crappy part..

The General ' Fridge ' is never on so the Snus is always room temp.. The Snus is always expired and overpriced ( $5-$6 ) a can. They only carry the Original, White, Wintergreen, Los and Dry Mini... No Sterk, Extra Sterk or Onyx...

There is a store local to me that carries General snus; however, they only carry the original General. No other flavors or brands of snus. No refrigeration and also no large quantities. If I was looking for a few tins, it would be fine. But if you wanted a few rolls, you probably have to put in an order. I'm sure in the event of a ban they'd begin to stock greater quantities/varieties.

I just called the place closest to me, and they said that they stocked all the General products. They were even willing to mail it to me if I wanted. I didn't ask about expiration dates though...

If you plan on buying a lot, definitely coordinate with them before you make the drive. There are probably few if any stores that carry a large stock...

I have a strong feeling general doesn't sell in the states.
Better than Canada though, because retailers must HIDE the fridges.

I have a store about 15 minutes away that carries the typical General fridge, and I have called some of the others on that list to see if they actually had it. And they all did, so you are probably good to go.

The store I visit when I am low and my order is running late, used to have a LOT of cans that were expired. The last few times though, they have all been super fresh, and about half of the fridge is empty. This suggests it is catching on a bit here.

If anyone is interested and lives in the Chicago area, it is 8 to 8 Cigar Shop. Friendly peeps, but the manager once told me that snus is better than dip because they don't put fiberglass in it. I had already been using snus for a few months when he told me that, so I knew it was better health wise, but I hate hearing stupid crap like that. Especially from a freakin' tobacco seller.

Fiberglass.....come on, that is sooooo 1990's.

I too am in the Seattle area. I went to a place in Kirkland and paid 7.50 per can. Definitely cheaper on Northerner but there for when PACT takes affect.
