Your best bet is to place a "practice" order. You will see how much tax there is before you actually have to agree to buy the snus. I mainly use buysnus.com, and swedishsnus.com, and don't know how Northerner works their taxes.

I live in our great midwest as well and after 5 shipments (1 from northerner, 4 from buysnus) I have never been hit with additional fees from the government. 1 of my orders was a roll and the other 4 have been 5 tin mixes.

FYI, shipping UPS, you may be hit with a $5-6 Customs Duties & Brokerage Charge.. the bill comes after the shipment gets there. And FYI, shipping from Northerner to OK, UPS only got here 1 day faster than the Swedish post.

I used swedish post for my 3 snus shipments.
my first shipment was about 10 cans or so (northerner), second was about 5 (buysnus), the third was 18 (northerner). the first 2 shipments arrived within 4 days, the last, 7 days.
my first shipment came to jersey, the other 2 to illinois...no 'extra fees' yet.
considering how screwed up the government is becoming, though, i wouldn't be surprised if that changes....or if it doesn't change, maybe I got lucky.
you should be safe if you're not making insanely large orders as though a stateside distributor/shop would.

The first loose I used was Skruf, and found it pretty easy to bake and keep in place. RL is really easy to bake, so is Probe, but they will turn muddy if your not careful. General is also a good choice.

Article on Tobacco Importation into the U.S.

Here is a link which discusses the issue of importing tobacco into the U.S. It primarily discusses cigarettes, but, it talks about "other tobacco product" as well. Take it for what it's worth...
