    Swedish taxes are scary!

I realise that the Swedes get quite the benefits from the high taxes they pay (I'm envious of a couple of them), but I've been browsing Swedish stores aimed mostly at the Swedish market to see if I could stir up any unknown snus to try. I figure even if I can only buy it in rolls (a lot of those stores seem to only offer rolls, or very meagre single can offerings), it'd be worth it if I could find a snus I really love. But I was just browsing one shop, and a roll of level was $41.29! I haven't tried it, so I can't really knock it, but I could get 13 cans of General ES for another 22 cents! Admittedly, it's not my favourite, but most seem to hold it in higher esteem than Level.

I guess cj better be happy that other stores don't charge those taxes for his level.

A side note, this seemed like the most appropriate section, but mods feel free to move if you feel it should be elsewhere.

Sadly, all of us in the EU have to pay the Swedish taxes, however it's still a lot cheaper for us than cigarettes. Packs of decent cigarettes are pushing £6 here, $9 !!

The VAT rate in Sweden is the killer 25% and this is charged on delivery as well.

Well, we luck out on this side of the pond, for the most part. A lot of places don't charge us VAT, but the Germans just seem to hate us. Tons of German shops charge everyone VAT, and then add a $25 shipping fee for something that in reality might cost between $5-10 to ship. It doesn't matter if you only buy one thing, they charge at least $25 to ship it. Which is unfortunate, because I often see things I rather like in German shops, but don't buy them for that reason.

I don't think they should be charging you VAT, although I've noticed that some German stores don't seem to encourage exports so perhaps they really don't want your custom.

I've only bought once from a German store, an obscure electronic part, and I seem to remember they charged a fortune for delivery.
