Great news for me about buying local

I found out yesterday that the cigar store ,Outman Knife and Cigar, in my local mall Haywood mall in Greenville, SC is getting a refrigerated unit to carry Swedish snus. I was excited when he told me. He is not sure which brands he will carry but you can bet I will make suggestions and definitely put Discreet at the top of the list.

My wife and I go to the mall every week so happy happy joy joy because I like the idea of not having to buy it in bulk. I know it might be higher per can but sometimes it's hard to come up with 50 or so dollars at a time. It will come in handy if I am waiting on a late mail order too.

Thats great..............but they will only get about a total of 5 different snus of general and catch. Period. Its the same selection that SM lets a few select stores carry. Hopefully, in the near future the selection will expand. But we have already been waiting several years for that to happen.

Good news indeed. I also have a few shops here in Minneapolis that carry swedish match snus. All they carry is the general line. Los, original portion, white portion, wintergreen, and mini's. I stop in every few weeks and buy a can or two, just to support them. Only problem though, and its not really a problem, the snus is always about a month from experation. They still taste just fine however.

Hey, I live pretty darn near Greenville. In fact, I drive through there 3 or 4 times a month. Guess I have a reason to stop and pick up a few if I have an emergency

Trust me; when buying local is your ONLY option (like us WA residents), General is the greatest snus in the world!

I am not a big fan of the General line so far except for the Onyx but as you guys mentioned, it will be better than no snus at all. The good thing is with Discreet being so cheap, I can use it to flavor up the General and get the nic hit from the General.

When Tom can get us strong portions, all bets are off.

And I bet we'll see Discreet on shelves sooner than we will Swedish Snus. Just a guess.

It's all speculation because Swedish Match is tight lipped about their plans.

I have heard that after the 1st of the year more retailers will be able to carry Swedish Match products and that the holdup is new refrigerators. I'm going to assume at some point SM will expand their selection beyond just the 5 they sell now. It would not make sense to have new refrigerators and limit yourself to only 5 varieties.

If it was me, the major SM retailers would get a display refrigerator that has 20 or so varieties and the corner 7-11 would get the smaller 5 variety version.

Just an FYI. The local shops I have found here have very small fridges that don't hold much beyond the basic 5 generals we see stocked. We're talking maybe 20x12. Would be curios to know if it's the same in other areas.

Right, this is what is out there right now. Not very impressive.

That doesn't look anything like the fridge by the shop near me. There's is smaller, with 4 corner windows. The cans are put in horizontal and stacked like coins. 5 high and 2 or 3 rows back. 2 levels.

So, 4 spots containing a max of about 15 cans.

It's a start. Give them time.

And they aren't fools. This is all about getting a toehold. For the moment, they KNOW that 97% of us will order direct from Sweden. It is just a way to continue to introduce potential customers to the snus concept.

BUT....

Should our world change, SM is already getting prepared to massively add to what is here. Don't expect to see it change if nothing happens though.

Ok, I feel better now. I was worried about the time that I got hooked on snus, our government would screw it up.

I'm glad I'm getting into General snus and bergamot snus now, because should things change and we can't import it here - I know now if it's on store shelves, I won't complain now that I like it.
