Originally posted by LaZeROriginally posted by MojoQuestorMy first SnusCentral order arrived today, actually. I ordered it on the 7th (actually the 6th, but was very late here, so say early on the 7th). I got the Order Process email, then an email on the 7th saying it was "shipped". So nine days for me. Not super duper, but down here in the badlands not really that surprising. Maybe the Level in the bag set off some kind of sniffer robot radar or something at Customs

Oh Canada...
Long time dipper, made the switch a while back.
Unfortunately in CANADA we only have access to du Maurier (Read: du Crapier), other than that, I've only made a few individual purchases online.
Finally bought 10 tins from SNUSCENTRAL, will update on delivery times as they happen, and customs delays for Canadians. Just wanted to add some information to the group. Great job guys, the wealth of knowledge on here is superb.
Date Ordered: Friday 08 January, 2010
Status: Pending (Friday 08 January, 2010)
Status: Shipped (Monday 11 January, 2010)
Status: Last part of your order was sent today. (Tuesday 12 January, 2010)
*Status: First Part of the order was received (Monday 18 January, 2010)
**Status: Last Part of the order was received (Thursday 28 January, 2010)
* NO IMPORT TAX/DUTY PAID
** IMPORT TAX AS Calculated. Worked GREAT.

It should be interesting cause a large tin of skoal can go from $23-$27 here, and a small one anywhere from $10-$13. Compared with a can of snus at $3-$4. I'm in!

Oh Canada...
I posted my results above, but wanted to share my findings with fellow Canadians (and the rest of you)
Ordered: Friday 08 January, 2010
Shipped 1/2 (Monday 11 January, 2010)
Shipped 2/2 (Tuesday 12 January, 2010)
*Received 1/2 (Monday 18 January, 2010)
**Received 2/2 (Thursday 28 January, 2010)
* NO IMPORT TAX/DUTY PAID
** IMPORT TAX AS Calculated. Worked GREAT. Here's the break down:
Important information for Canadians:
5% DUTY on VALUE of Tobacco Only
5% TAX (GST) on ENTIRE value (this includes shipping)
Since it was >100grams they charge a $44 excise tax, NOW, IF they open your package you're lucky, they will charge on a per tin basis:
$2.8975 per tin.
Next, they charge a PROVINCIAL TOBACCO tax, which "looks" like PST tax; however if you're in a province like Alberta, where there IS no PST, they still place the charge in that field. Its a provincial TOBACCO tax not provincial sales tax. This value is $0.30 per gram or portion thereof, in ALBERTA (similar in other provinces).
So My order was a total of $41.03 including $10 shipping (USD)
The rate of exchange was 1.06 at the time....here we go:
$43.49CAD ($41.03USD) Cost of Product (10tins plus shipping)
$44.00CAD Excise Tax
$33.08CAD Provincial Tobacco Tax (At $0.30/gram - included packaging)
$2.17CAD GST on ENTIRE Package
$1.64CAD Duty on Tobacco
$5.00CAD CBSA Fee (Just because they wanted some of your money!)
-------------
The last four, you will be charged if they tag it. The excise tax varies as mentioned if they open it or not. The provincial tobacco tax varies from province to province, but not greatly; (Ex: In British Columbia, this is $0.185, instead of $0.30, In Ontario, its $0.1235, instead of $0.30)
$129.38CAD for 10 tins of Snus...just a BIT cheaper than buying DIP locally, but you get Snus instead. Is it worth it? For me, yes. I will buy again. You get a far superior product for the same or cheaper. I like that!
Now, keeping in mind they let ONE parcel go thru customs without trouble. I paid under $5/tin for the first package from Sweden to my door.
The second parcel my average is $21.52. Expect to pay $22/tin when importing and you won't be surprised. Do your homework, the taxes are available from the CBSA and Local Government websites. Makes it easier to determine if you will go ahead or not.
Up to you to order and get it into Canada, but its probably worth it. I think so.
