I will be headed to Alaska for two months and I'm planning on bringing ~40 cans with me. Are there any limits on bringing certain amounts of tobacco across U.S. state lines? Thanks for the help!
Bringing ALOT of snus to Alaska

Dude, I would not sweat it. I travel for work , all over the USA , and have never had an issue. I avg 7 flights a month.
When I first started I used to put all my cans in a ziplock with one of those GetSnus brochures - that you get with every order- along with a hand written letter explaining that I use the snus as part of my stop smoking program , and that it's critical that I have my stuff for my success.
Also I would write if they needed more info (or wanted to buy some for themselves) to read the attached brochure.
Fifty plus flights later and I have had no problems.
The only issue I had was going to Canada as there is a limit on how many grams of smokeless you can bring in. In this case I declared the amount of grams and had no problem.
My method might be a little extream but going with out snus for a few weeks would be a bummer!
Due to your amount , if you attach a letter , might be a good idea to note that this is the amount you need for two months..
I doubt you will have any problems and I hope this helps..

I lived in AK for 3 years and drove through Canada, on the way there and on the way back to the lower 48. I did not use snus at the time, therefore I didn't have to worry about that at customs, but if I remember correctly, signs were posted everywhere stating that only 4 lbs. of tobacco (I assume this was in regards to 'moist' dip) could be taken in. I am not sure of that weight, but I know there were limits. Anyway don't be an idiot like me and reply to the custom's officer's question of "do you have any meat products?" with the response of, "well..umm...does dry dog food count??" I could have just said "NO" as I really didn't have meat products (no t-bones or porterhouses in the backseat) but my 'honesty' cost me a $45 bag of Science Diet dog food! Where you going in AK? It's an incredible & long drive down the AlCan, if that's the route you are taking. Hope to move back soon!
