    buying snus locally...

Has anyone had any success introducing swedish snus into their local tobacco shops? I live in Nebraska so the closest I can get locally is camel snus, and that just doesn't cut it for me. I would enjoy the convenience of goin down the street to the tobacco shop and pickin up a can of general to tide me over between big orders.

Is Klondike, Marlboro or Triumph snus available anywhere near you? Those along with the Camel could maybe hold you over. Every tobacco shop I've mentioned snus too did not seem interested.

Unfortunately all we have around here is camel snus. And that itself is relatively here.

Just to let you know, there are two places in Omaha to get the real stuff, selection is pretty limited, only carry the General product line when i went there.

        Vanderpool's/Nickleby's
        2464 S. 120th St.

        Ted's
        14215 Pacific St.

I went to Ted's as i got impatient for my first order to arrive. You'll see a 'small' black fridge banded with the General name and logo full of cans. Hope this helps you get past the camel.

We've got the "TinderBox" chain here, and they have General only as well - I went there while waiting for my 1st Northerner order.

There are two stores that show up on the General snus website store locator near me.

I finally got a reason to go to one of them and they looked at me like I was a bit touched!

I wandered around looking for the snus fridge I'd seen in a tobacco store in Kansas City. The guy at the counter of my "local" store was smoking a stogie and asked me if he could help me find anything. Pretty much condescending. Maybe I looked like a shop lifter grazing around with a hat and my winter coat on.

I tried to strike up some banter and asked about snus, he pretty much looked at me like I was a crack head.

The store owner came out from the walk in humidor and she tried to offer me some nasal snuff. I thanked her, and declined.

I was about to mention the website that their store shows up on. Maybe tell them it lists them as having General. I was already confusing them just asking, so I figured mentioning anything new-fangled like the interweb might have made their heads explode.

I bought a can of dip, Grizzly LC Natural, and went on my way.

The second one that shows up in my neck of the woods is getting a phone call before a I visit it.

In the mean time the net is my hook up.

For those in the Houston area, General is available OTC at Spec's Liquor downtown at $4.99 per can.

I work a block away from a store in downtown Seattle that has the full general line (except the ES portions and los damnit) but despite walking past it every day I have never purchased. They said sales are great, so I don't have to feel too bad about not buying locally, but I just prefer my short list of favorite snus for $3 per can or less to General at $8 per can (yes $8 or $7.90 or whatever). Until anything drastic happens (or I forget snus before work) I'm sticking to snus-by-mail. I'm lucky that my favorites are stocked in the US and get to my door in 2 days as well.
