Questions about Snus in Oregon

I discovered a few months ago the joy of Snus through the Camel brand. Even if it isn't up to the standards of the real deal, at least it feels like it's good training wheels for the real thing.

I was all set to get some stuff from buysnus.com but then read the TOC and it said that sales were prohibited in Oregon. Does anyone know why that is?

Also, if I did decide to order (and be dastardly), would I not receive it because of this prohibition? What's the worse than can happen if it's found I purchased it?

Are there any other Oregon Snus lovers who can give me advice or tell me about their experiences, or even people in other "prohibited" states? I'd also love to be able to go into a store and find some swedish snus, so if there's anyone who knows of any places in Oregon or has a link to a store locator that lists Oregon (swedishsnus doesn't, sadly), I'd greatly appreciate it.

I just said "Screw it" and placed the order anyways. Soft Morning, City! is from Portland I see, and it appears he gets his just fine.

I have placed five orders from buysnus.com now and they have all arrived at my doorstep within a week or two. No problem at all. I live in Portland. Message me and I can hook you up with some of the Swedish until your order arrives. I started on Camel as well and there's really no comparison.

As far as I know no stores in Oregon sell it, I think there are a few stores in California. I went to Rich's downtown a few weeks ago and they had no idea what I was talking about..

I smoked for 18+ years (heavily) and gave it up completely once my first order came. Been like a month and a half. Best of luck, good choice with the snus, and seriously, send me a message!

When I was living in Portland I placed all of my orders through either Northerner or Buysnus, mostly Buysnus. I never had any problems, though I did have to pick up my Northerner packages at the post office instead of them arriving at my door. Didn't have that problem with Buysnus, so I used them more frequently and still do. I mostly order rolls though, and Northerner is better if you're not ordering rolls.

I'm surprised Rich's doesn't have it. Best tobacco shop ever! Although mostly for the enormous foreign press magazine/news selection. I miss that shop (used to live downtown Ptown). I tried to get a job there so many times back in the day.

Rich's is one of the main things about Portland that I miss. They had an amazing selection of pipe and loose cigarette tobacco and the staff was always very helpful and gave great recommendations.

Y'all know I lived in Portland for a year?? Back in 92. About 6 months before I was done in school at Berkeley. My ex and I decided one night to drive to Portland early that nhext AM. We got out at 4AM, drove, drove, and got to Portland about 3:30 PM. We walked through Downtown, the river, we explored SE. At about 8PM that night, we headed back home. i turned to my ex as we were about to leave Downtown and said let's move here when I am done with school. She said OK.

We were in Portland for about another 2 hours a couple of months l;ater. Drove all the way up to the coast and then cut in before we reached Washington. Stopped in Portland for dinner on our way to Mt. Hood.

A few months later, Laura took the kitties and drove to Portland, got a job and found an Apartment. I showed up a week later with a truck with all our stuff.


I desperately loved Portland, my ex had a much harder time. BAD winter, laid off in the 92 recession, didn't get out of bed all winter long. Next June, company I was with opened up a branch in Oakland and sent me back to help start it up.

I have always mourned a bit leaving. My Mom and brother live in Washington, near Olympia. To this day, when I fly in and rent a car, I fly to Portland and not Seattle. Get off the plane and go have lunch someplace cool before driving North.

Lunch in Portland is always ****ing amazing. Ever eaten at Tributes? It's a pizza/sandwich place on NW Kearney near 23rd. They have by far the best philly cheesesteak I've ever eaten.

There are too many good places to eat in Portland for me to list here, but Tributes was always my favorite lunch place.

Of all the things I miss about Portland, there are two that overshadow the rest: 1.) the food and 2.) the record stores. I was spoiled on those record stores. I had less that 30 records when I moved to Portland. I left two years later with approximately 150.

Portland rocks, I just can't take the winters. I already suffer from serious depression. The Portland winters just weren't conducive to me being a functioning human being.

That being said, I'm jumping at the first chance I get to go back and visit. Of all the big cities I've visited, Portland is my favorite by leaps and bounds.

I have some family that lives near Portland. Beautiful area. I love the weather, and I enjoy the winters. Two things I don't like about the Pacific Northwest: the rain and the cost of living. If I could make it on what I make now out there like I can here in the south, I would be up there lickety split.

Anyway, back on topic. As far as I know, the only state that makes it illegal to ship tobacco in the mail to is Vermont. It will probably be struck down though if it makes it to the supreme court. Maine tried something similar when it barred tobacco shipments through the mail and through private carriers like UPS. The supreme court found that Maine violated the amendment that made it illegal for a state to try and regulate a motor carrier. So, you can now ship tobacco to Maine so long as it is by UPS and FedEx.

i live ony a couple of houres from portland the only thing i hate about going over there is the traffic those hose heads cant drive to save there lives :shock: i have no probs getting my snus shiped from swedin it arives with a touching hand delevery by the mail lady who also lives in my apt building

I loved the Winter. We had much snow that winter, first time I ever lived in a city that got snow. I was in outside sales, so had studded tires put on a week before our first ice storm.

But the winter was horrible for Laura, reason I took the transfer when offered. A few years later, after I had moved to Raleigh, my ex boss got a job managing a call center in Portland and wanted to hire me. Fantastic job offer that would have doubled my salary. Really wanted to go but Laura didn't want to leave (yet years later, would cite MY lack of ambition as one of the reasons why she left me...sigh).

I am grateful I get a chance to go back occasionally. but always a bit sad, wondering what course my life might have taken had I never left, or at least returned.
