I know everyone has their own tastes but my experience with Landstroms was horrible. It is the only tin of snus i have yet to finish and is still sitting in my freezer 3/4 full for about 6months. For me i just couldn't handle the taste. It really got to me for some reason and to me it kinda tasted the closest to American chew more than any other snus i have tried yet, but others might feel different about this.

Maybe ill try it again soon to see if I like it yet, but i dont know. It really was horrible for me. As for Gellivare i have not tried, but it doesn't sound to bad. Only thing with Gellivare is I do not wanna purchase the snus if I might not like it like the Landstroms. How does Gellivare compare to the Landstroms?

I know the texture, coarseness, and flavor of Landstroms is what really turned me off on it so is Gellivare have any of these same components as Landstroms?

The Gellivare is different, but not different enough for you I don't think. It's finer cut, but still on the coarse side, and the flavor's a bit darker, but you can tell they come from the same company. I wouldn't bother making a special order for it if I were you, but as an addition to an existing order $2 is a small amount to gamble.

Gellivare has an even more earthy natural taste than Landstroms.

So is Landstroms is a turn-off for you then Gellivare would probably make you gag and maybe even puke.

I have an opened tin of Gellivare & it's half empty. When I finish it I'll open a Landstroms. Looking forward to it. I've seen many positive reviews of it, but I do realize it's all a matter of personal taste.

          happy snussing !!

Thanks for the replies everyone. I think I will just stay away from both of them at the time. Maybe get around to trying the tin in my freezer sometime soon to see if my tastes have changed at all.

Both an acquired taste. Personally I prefer Gellivare - it packs well, doesn´t run and tastes very natural (bit like Gotland). The bergamot in Landstroms is light but I find it packs badly (coarse with no fines).

Love this tobacco! I've finally scored some Landstroms and have been hand-baking for about a week now (just at home). I've found that by adding a couple drops of water the stuff it bakes normally. I usually just wet my pinching fingers after palming. Gellavare and Landstroms are both definitely worth trying.

I just got my tins of Gellivare and Landströms today, along with a 5ml Icetool, and I've had as big a pris of each as I can make with the 5ml. I think they are both fantastic. The flavors in each definitely stand out from all the other snus' I have tried. The Landströms does remind me a bit of Gotlands Yellow. I can taste the bergamot in it, but for some reason, it tastes different than how I normally think of bergamot. The two definitely share a common flavor, and I quite like it. The Gellivare to me has hints of unsweetened brownie, and it definitely smells like it in the tin. I like the coarseness of grind in each of these. I'm very glad I ordered them, I think they will go on my short-list.

I love my new 5ml Icetool. I packed as big a pris as I could make with it; my Finnish friend said I looked like the guy on the N&J can. I'm not sure how I should take that.

                  Aloha!

I've just found a tin of Landströms in my freezer today as well and haven't had it for a while. It is very nice for a change! Very earthy/peaty and quite unique. Still one of my favourites.

Landstroms is quite dry in taste & goes well with a lightly peated malt whisky try Bunnahabain. At the moment I'm doing Roda Lacket loose with Balvenie 12yr old and chocolate (Michel Cluizel Noir de Cacao 72%) - 3 vices in one make life worth living.

As unlikely as it is, I actually had a pris of Landströms just the other day with a nice glass of Balvenie 12yr - I've got two bottles of it on my desk at the moment...both empty

My night was slightly similar. Got Grey and Sambuca Black. It was unbelievable.

Balvenie's delicious. It's highly under appreciated, at least here in the USA. I'm a huge scotch fan, though I haven't been drinking much recently. I probably have close to 20 bottles of malt in various stages of completion in my liquor cabinet :^)

Balvenie is definitely underrated - I like it measurably more than most any other Scotch in its price range and generally have one around as my staple.

Let's get a Scotch thread in the People forum.

Laphroig and Tasilker would be my choices for peat. Dahlwinnie with Prima Fint is also a must try
