Getsnus No More

I won't be using getsnus until they keep Phantom/Rothbrix Blue in stock.

I understand the financial issue of discontinuing free shipment, and I always wondered how getsnus pulled it off.

Half-rolls and mystery cans are synonymous with getsnus, though, and it'll be a damn travesty if Northerner doesn't bring them back.

Attaboy Snuffle! That's the spirit! Yeah, Northerner already ships a ton from the US already, and now that they've acquired even more of a distribution network with GetSnus.com, I think there is reason to be very hopeful.

And remember dev, Frederick specifically mentioned bringing back the free can. This ettan is effin amazingly smooth. Definitely grew on me since I first tried it so many months prior. Rothbrix is decent, I suppose, and if it is important enough to you, check out SnusCentral.com or Buysnus.com for the Rothbrix. Personally, if I liked a product that much and Frederick didn't have it, I would get two or three 10 packs to last you a while...at least until Frederick worked on getting it in stock. I also forgot about the half-rolls that GetSnus.com sold...bummer. I got the 5-pack of General Mint White Portion, very tasty stuff. However, you could just get 5 cans alone and they will keep it in the plastic. It would only run you about a buck more. I checked into the savings too, trust me. I don't know how 10 packs sell that well, I mean I got a 10 pack of Roda Lacket Claq Qui, but that will last (and be savored) for over a year, I'm sure. A special treat to me and a thanks to my freezer. You'd have to do a ton of snus to have 10-packs become economical.

And Snusdog, I am in Goose Creek on the Northern sections of Charleston out here in the wide open spaces. I even grew a tobacco plant with a seed a friend out near St. Stephen (waaaaayyy out in the boonies) sent me. Actually very tall plant. I wasn't expecting that at all, I'll tell you that much. It was like 7 feet tall! Hung the leaves to air dry and then used a steamer to turn it to a paste. Mixed it with salt, a hint of vanilla, and a touch of citrus extract. Made a sort-of snus before I even knew what it was. I didn't know what I was doing, but it works great and tastes pretty cool too. I have that stored in the freezer. All natural, no fermentation, no high temps, very little TSNA's (carcinogens).

So yeah, Charleston is a great place. I was up in the Upstate a few times (summer camp at Clemson and a band tournament or something like that one time). It surprised me how cool it got in the mornings. It was the middle of summer and it was like 67 or something at Clemson. Here, hell, it don't even drop below 75 in the summer.

I am just loving this thread!!! Oh No! Northerner bought getsnus and now they are going to charge us $500.00 for a roll of snus plus another $100.00 for shipping and it's all Chads fault! I was going to watch TV for a bit but this is much more exciting. Hey, I haven't seen any posts by Ice lately. I bet Northerner is hiding him in a closet. BTW I do think getsnus needs a grand re opening sale though! 1/2 off the whole site and free shipping.

BTW I had a few good experiences with getsnus- think replaced a horrifying spilled open can of Kardus from Sweden direct to my house when everyone else was sold out- but I never bought from them very often due to their sluggish reaction to increasing their variety during the first 6 - 8 months of operation.

I've also got no complaints about The Northerner. I had lunch with Frank one day and he's about as down to Earth and genuinely square and honest as they come. They have always shipped my orders without issue. They even rush out what they do have in stock and then back up the rest as it rolls in-- never charge for the extra shipping.

I agree the nature of the change is weird, but The Northerner had no control over the manner in which it went down. No big deal to me. Like others have said, Getsnus was owned by CI which is owned by SM. Selling snus to consumers was not their long term plan after CI was bought by SM.

Orders shipping out of PA arrive super fast and the increased selection is cool. With a few little tweaks and compromises it will be better in the long run.

Having always used Northerner, I'm not too worried. I have always had great service and fast shipping with Northerner, and they do have some great deals. Give them some time, and I'm sure that they will do a great job running Getsnus.

Ah, I remember what I'll miss about Getsnus; expired snus! They've really helped me out over the last year with expired snus sales. General for $1 a tin, Gotland for $2... That would have come to an end anyway, once they got their stocks stabilized, but they really helped me build a stockpile when I didn't have much money. I used to keep their page open in my browser, and check it every so often for expired snus sales. That'll certainly be missed. I'll take cheap snus over new snus every time :^)

i have 4 rolls worth of snus in my order. 104$ plus 11-12$ shipping

$116 total on 40 tins worth of snus is $2.90 a tin

that's pretty good if you ask me.

plus this was before bla was 3.04 and G and L was $2.88 so it would probably be even cheaper depending on the brands. I'm sure Fred and everybody at northerner will tweak the site and get everything straightened out. just give it a little time.

Hell, I started buying rolls on my second to third order, it only makes sense. The way the price structure always was(haven't done the math lately), it was like buy 9 tins, get 1 free. If you're gonna buy 5 tins, you might as well go the extra 4, and get a free one. Unless you plan on quitting snus in the next month or so, the time to buy is always now. It's damned rare that the price of any consumable goes down over time, and it's question of when you want to spend the money. You can spend it now, or spend more later ;^)

I'm pretty damn bummed here, I must be honest... but this all makes sense. Northerner needed an American geared site and GetSnus.com is a great brand with a rather large established user base.
