My understanding has been that buying from Sweden will continue much as it has, only now you will have to use a private carrier like UPS.

FDA regulations will only apply to snus made in the USA or imported here for resale. I do not recall anything about further FDA restrictions on mail orders for private consumption. Thus, for example, if you wanted to make or resell the candy that Northerner carries here in the USA it would have to be FDA approved. However you can buy it for personal consumption on line no problem.

Also, foreign vendors will not be collecting US taxes. The same tax collection system for foreign sales that was in place pre-pact remains.

As I said earlier today..............I just don't seen that much of a change (outside of shipping options and shipping cost).

look guys, let me make an analogy if i may.


The company that owned getsnus was owned by swedish match. They are like the Wal-mart of snus. Lower prices and all that.

Norterner is like the local mom and pop shop in town. prices are a little higher but will do anything to keep their customers coming back and to make things right if something comes up.

they didnt have to give people that had backorders that 15% off to set the cost they would have paid previously back.
they don't even have to replace orders lost in te mail, but they do.

if northerner wouldn't have taken over getsnus then it would have been shut down completely and we would be in the same situation. they said they are looking into the free can deal and working something out with ups to lower shipping and possibly lower snus prices .

just wait it out and let them finish tweaking the system.

Oh yeah, a little over a year ago now. Frank was in the States handling the early stages of getting Northerner set up in Pennsylvania, and was in Ohio for a few days, I guess partially to check out the snus scene here(Camel was tested here, and was one of only two places where Triumph was available). I think Baker met up with him on a different day. Myself, Rickcharles and TBD hung out with him at Eddie George's Grill here in Columbus. Great time, we had a great lunch and mostly talked snus. I'd hang out with the guy any day!

So what.....................you guys were just walking down the street on a sunny day there in Ohio........................when all of a sudden TBD stops, points, and says.................hey look guys.............over there by the lady in the blue dress................that dude has got to be a purveyor of Swedish snus............In fact............I think it's Frank............OK on three......one.............two...........three......."H ey Frank!!!"......................it IS Frank!!!...........lets go eat lunch with him.

Eh, I can't wait till tomorrow ladies and gentlemen. I will be getting in what could be among the last Roda Lacket Claq Qui's! Delicious, such a shame S.M. discontinued. And whoever replied earlier about Grovsnus, remember, I love it with a passion. I don't use it all the time, but if I want pure tobacco, I'll use it. It kinda tastes like if Ettan and General got together and...well. That's that. I will be trying the Skruf Xtra Stark los too, with my handy dandy Icetool. I don't know, the prices are a tiny bit more, but the person who used the analogy to Wal-Mart was dead on with GetSnus.com. They had the hookup with a multi-billion dollar corporation. They could afford to lose money because they were hoping to get a fanbase going in the U.S., but then PACT sorta derailed them. I love the selection Frederick currently has, and the customer service is just as cool. Seriously, if you have an issue (lost/damaged snus), you can talk with him and he will help make things all better, definitely cool. I think he is still working with a deal with the UPS or FedEx or something to get a bit cheaper prices. He is right about the mystery cans, it is a big loss I guess to the company. The only reason GetSnus.com did that was because Swedish Match could afford to lose money. I wouldn't mind the free can every ten cans or maybe the types of deals Frederick currently has, like 3 Skruf Xtra Stark for 2.14 a can. That's pretty damned good. I'm not insanely worried. I may have to pay a few bucks more overall but I have access to a larger selection (Oden's better comply so I can get my tasty cinnamon!) and I'll be able to get it after this Draconian law takes effect. Good enough for me!

Using a General's Ekstra Sterk portion too, mmmm....lemon and pepper, perfect! I got my General lossnus coming tomorrow also. Gonna be a big day, got the 4ml Stainless Steel Icetool coming, two cans of Roda Lacket lossnus, General lossnus, and the Skruf Xtra Stark los so I can try it. What do you guys think of Skruf? I'm personally trying the Xtra Stark because a little goes a long ways, but I've tasted the Stark White portion once and it was hard to describe. Like a hint of a flower taste to it, kinda sweet...went very well with the toback flavor though.

Hey Guys. Been gone a while. Had to get in on this.
I haven't decided how I feel about a Northerner monopoly. I will say Thank you to Frank and all the people in charge at The Northerner for doing what CI/Getsnus obviously wasn't willing or able to do. Namely jump through all the hoops required to serve American consumers in the post PACT world we will be living in.
Yes, I have had lunch and hung out with Frank once. Coolest foreigner I've ever met. Although if he keeps expanding the Northerner we may have to call him Emperor.

Monopolies aren't always bad. Everybody gives MS shit, but computers wouldn't be what they are without them. They standardized everyone around the IBM platform, and made it easy for people to work with each other. Even Linux owes it's popularity to MS.

Where am I going with this? Damned if I know, but I wouldn't worry over monopolies just yet. If nothing else, the government keeps core prices in check by jacking us with taxes. If tobacco companies/retailers tried raising prices too much, people would just quit.

Dog, we set it up here. Frank was taking a trip across North America. He ran through Canada, several states and made a snus trek.

I posted a picture here somewhere. My brother and I met up with him at Great Lakes Brewing Co. and we strolled around the West Side Market. Frank hooked us up with some Canadian snus that was sweet like Triumph and dry like camel. Demaurier or something.

He's hard to miss if you've ever seen the Stop Smoking with Swedish Snus videos. The Cola Snus video pretty much captures his personality. We had good conversation and great laughs.

I remember Frank bought some beef jerky at the market. Being an expert in all things jerky, my brother was able to mesmerize Frank with his salted, cured meats knowledge. lol..

Northerner is a solid salt of the earth company. Them taking over Getsnus, while a change, is not a bad thing.
