Heads up for Southern Alabama Snusers.

For those of you in the area, I found a local vendor that stocks snus in Mobile Alabama.
In the Colonial Bel Air in Mobile there is a store called the Tinderbox. All they have is General stuff, and at $4.50 per can, it's a little pricey. But I expected it to be higher priced than online anyway. This is the very first store I've seen locally that carries Swedish snus. The dude gave me one of the samplers just for asking.

It's good to know that if the online shopping thing goes up in smoke, there's somewhere I can at least get a good can of General.

Mobile is about an hour away from me! YAY! I just looked on General's website last week and did not see this listing so that is definitely some great news!

TinderBox is about the only national chain of old-fashioned tobacconists left in business, if I'm not mistaken. A lot of pipe smokers got their first pipe and/or tin of tobacco at one of their stores.

And that brings up a good point -- tobacconists that cater to pipe smokers are likely places to find snus. They may not carry much in stock, or very many brands, but there's a better chance that they at least might have a few cans of General.

If I can buy a can of General OP for $4.50 around here I would be ecstatic!

Once PACT is in full force, won't it be more cost effective to go to B&M stores? The taxes will be the same and the online shops will have to add in shipping...

Depends on what the local markup is, and the selection available. You also have to figure gas into the equation. At $2.80 a gallon, it's not an insignificant addition to the price.

Good point. I'm lucky as I have a tobacco shop that sells General that is two blocks from my son's school. They do 10% off rolls but I will have to see how that compares to what the online shops come up with. Also, selection becomes a factor. I don't care what I have to pay for a snus I love (within reason)...

thats great to know! I live in Mobile and have never seen snus anywhere. I have not gone in tinderbox in the last year since I quit smoking but once and they didn't have any but I am super stoked to know they have it know. I might even go by a can just because I can. Thanks AtreyuKun! I still think we need to have a south al, east snus swap meet.

                  Yeah I'm down with that!
There's a few of us that could wing that I think. It's cool there are people besides my bro-in-law that snuses.

If you are in the Birmingham area, Cigars N More on 280 carries General as well. They are really cool to deal with, and will give you the sample packs for free. They charge 3.99 a can.

So I went to Tinderbox yesterday and bought a can of General portions. Sold cold. They gave me a sample pack, which now comes with mint full size as well as wintergreen, mini mint and white.

The guy running the store seemed pretty excited to be selling it, he even mentioned hoping he can get other brands soon. My only problem was that there was nothing for p.o.s.. The cooler was kept under the counter and I had to ask If they had it. If AtryuKun would not have told me they have it, I never would have known. That shit needs to be visible.

They need a big poster in a visible place. WE CARRY SWEDISH SNUS, with a picture of a General can.

Yeah they really need to advertise the snus. I really had no idea they would even stock it. My wife said they probably don't. I agreed but wanted to ask anyway.
I asked what kind he sold. He said, "all of them". All the general brands maybe....
