I checked out that law, thanks! That shouldn't be a problem. It only bans bulk shipments over 10 lbs. Looks like the snus business will just keep on going like everyone else. They have to deal with some added paperwork and pay state taxes, at worst. most snus brands
Ive seen have complied with the labeling issues already. I don't see this as a very big hurdle for any business to overcome, you stamp label to bottom, pay tax and move on. In fact, they just won't have a "tax edge" over retail stores that sell the same snus. It shouldn't effect shipping costs at all. My state has a cheap tax. What am I missing?

Sounds to me like the government wants everyone to continue to snus, smoke, and dip.....and pay them. Just another TAX so they can bail out the bankers. Pathetic but it is what it is. Just making sure I'm not missing the part about any bans. If the US post office can't deliver (hard to believe) even under ten pounds, then it sound like Brown and FedEx had their lobbists working the bill too. But.....no ban. No timeline. No rush. Correct? It would be hard to believe that anyone would leave the market when taxes and admin are simply passed on to the buyer.

I'm curious how strictly they will enforce this. I have yet to order a snus order via UPS yet.
No, no signature this time. The snus fairies left the box on my porch. I guess we'll see what happens in July, but I don't expect to be ordering snus for awhile :^D

            Interesting

Preemption of State, Local, and Tribal Laws

The bill also would preempt state, local, and tribal laws that require common carriers and
delivery services to verify the age and require the signature of the individual accepting a
tobacco delivery or place other restrictions on those services. CBO expects that the
preemption would impose minimal costs on state, local, or tribal governments.

The problem is businesses have to collect tax for 50 different states, and DC. That's a real issue for small businesses. In addition to that, some brands won't be available anymore, and some states don't allow tobacco to be shipped. Now that there's an enforcement mechanism, some people may be shut out. Yes, USPS won't deliver *ANY tobacco, no matter the weight. UPS won't deliver to New York, and some other states may get in on that too. This is all a very bad situation for snus users. Some will be affected more than others, but it'll be more hassle and expense for everybody.

              Edit:
*ANY tobacco doesn't include cigars for some reason. If you enjoy cigars, your world won't be changing much :^S

god, i just ordered from this northern/getsnus hybrid and i hope they don't mess me over. hearing how some of you got your shipments gives me hope that my snus world has not crumpled.

and they need to get a stinking phone # and stick it on their site and have someone from this country answer it. i loved ordering from the old getsnus, if my order had a problem a human would take care of it.

So, tell me if I have this right. No USPS after June, at all, for tobacco.

Who are you guys using for the cheapest snus to the US addresses. I am in Germany. I was GetSnusing to my mom`s address, and she was forwarding it here to avoid being raped on taxes. I can not have her send tabacco to me from the Post Office after June? I assume it will not be sent to my mom with USPS from GetSnus/Northerner after June either. Sucks. I can not give details; but this is going to cost me in more ways than one.

BTW: I agree that this transition for GetSnus sucks. No customer support or free shipping. Say what you want Chad, but all I see is that my snus just got more expensive.
