OK, just got a response...
Since the new law was passed in USA and our system up date we have received an extreme amount of e-mails, this has unfortunately made the response time very long. We in the customer support will do our best to answer all your questions asap.
The reason for delay on your order is that we have not received the products from the manufacturer. You will receive your order in 1-3 weeks.
We do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you and we hope you will keep shopping with us.
Kind regards, Siavash , customer support Northerner
Could anyone point me in the direction of a company that will only charge for what they have in stock?
You know, I considered opening an online snus shop... maybe I should look into that again....

The new Northern shipping price is outrageous! I order in smaller quantities because I don't use a lot of snus. $12.16 regardless of what I'm ordering? BS. My order is barely over a half pound. Northerner has essentially created a monopoly for US snus on the internet. They're shipping out of the US now and should really come down on their shipping charges. </rage>

Just order larger amounts. Stays fresh for a year in the freezer.

Edit:
Also, very large companies can wheel and deal with UPS to get better rates. I don't think Northerner has that kind of clout yet.

I never buy a lonesome can, but I think you can see where I am getting.
A standard flat fee of 12.16USD for everything under 1lb is a tad high. Not everyone wants to buy their snus in bulk. On smaller orders Northerner is clearly profiting from what they pass-off as UPS' shipping rate, deductive reasoning leads us so.
I understand the signature adds cost, but it shouldn't add THAT much for eight ounces of goods.

Without going into the particulars(cause honestly I don't know them), the biggest chunk of the charge is getting an item from 1 place to the other. In other words, The hassle of dealing with an envelope with a card inside isn't that much less than dealing with a box that has 2 rolls of snus inside. Much of the cost is in processing, and delivery, and that would be there regardless of weight. You're gonna have a base charge that'll be there regardless of what you order. Whether that charge is too much or not, I don't know. I do know it costs a fair chunk of money whenever I ship something via USPS.

On this topic I ship UPS all the time, it cost me just as much to send 1 ounce as it does 1 pound. The minimum charge is for a pound and they also add 2.00 surcharge for a residential address. If you live in the country 30 miles from a decent size city there is another 2 dollar charge. So while on orders close to PA they are maybe making a few dollars extra, believe me that is absorbed in packaging and warehousing costs. Orders far away from PA will absorb nearly 100% of that 12 dollars.
For instance I can send a package up to from KY to Long Beach CA, for about 10 bucks.
I can also send a package to a rural address in Ohio, from Louisville, an address only 200 miles from me, and its 12.30
I still dont defend their other bad business practices, but shipping UPS is a pain and expensive for 1 pound or less. Thats why we have a damn post office... grrr.
They split my last order, and although I only paid the 12 bucks shipping, I received 1 UPS package already and have tracking on another.... meaning they lost money at 12 bucks.
Blame PACT for the shipping... not Notherner.
