Question for swedish match test marketing in canada.

    Good day sir(s),

A few years ago i have contacted you fellas about why your snus has not hit Canadian borders (well besides from good folk like my self that have ordered it from other sites). I forget the full reply but your company wouldn't send snus to us directly.

Now that your company is doing a test market here in Canada, what provinces are receiving your wonderful gift of awesomeness? What cities?

Any plans on testing other brand besides general? Any plans on sending the Los our way? I hate portions! HATE THEM but if i can just walk across the street and buy a can then well i will.

Thank you good sirs, thank you! You are true Kings among men.

J&M have been AWOL for awhile now. I wouldn't count on getting a reply. I also wouldn't count on anything more than General for the immediate future. They seem to be gung ho about pushing that at the expense of the superior Ettan.

Imo, they're diluting the General name by releasing it as mint, wintergreen, and other nontraditional nonsense. General should be General, and they should have made a new name, or revived an old one for the nonGeneral flavors.

Yeah its been a while since i have been around. Thanks for the heads up. I'm not a SM whore but if i could get los locally damn that would be nice. I agree with SM bastardizing the general name, it is a damn shame really. Also yes Ettan is far better but i would rather them bastardize general over Ettan any day!

I bounced this email to some of my contacts at SM, I'll see if I can get you a response today or tomorrow.

I brought some General products around to a few local tobacco shops and had the owners look at it and told them the distibuter that Walper tobacco told me supplied them , they were interested but didn't know how well it would sell so I'll go back in a week or 2 and see if they made any head way on it .

              Hope this helps.

Regarding the distribution of SM products in Canada...

"It is Rothmans, Benson & Hedges Inc. (owned by PMI) *that are selling Swedish Match products in Canada."

Maybe contacting them should help you in your inquiry.

I just called R,B&N. They said that they do have SM products on the shelves at certain tobacconist stores. (they were very helpful on the phone)

The gentleman in charge of the SM products at the location I contacted said that the list of SM products across Canada was fairly big to be discussed on the phone, however, he mentioned that he will share by email the list of retailers close to my area. (eastern ontario region). Will update once I receive the email

This makes me want to cry, here is the reply

                      Dear Sir,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us regarding our SNUS, oral smokeless tobacco product. Upon checking with our distribution center, I am informed that this product in only available in the Toronto Metropolitan area. It is not yet available in your Region and it is not known at this time if and when it will be available in that Region.

Thank you, once again, for taking the time to contact us and it was a pleasure for me to respond to your enquiry.

                      Sincerely,

                      Customer Services Lead
                      RBH Inc.

On a good note, if you live in ontario, you can buy General Mini Mint, General mini smooth and General Classic from walpertobacco online.
Not the greatest selection nor prices, but at least you know what you are gonna pay at the time you order, instead of gambling with our beloved CBSA customs agents.
