It doesn't have to be a binary choice as far as manufacturing goes. A lot could be done with limited editions, or bespoke orders that are made in advance of production. That would eliminate a lot of risk, while filling an under-served void in the market. I can appreciate that a maker isn't likely to get rich by producing lös snus, but there's still some money to be had there, with a dedicated, if not tremendously large user base.
Edit:
bothersome grammar. I think the point was understood, but it was bothering the hell out of me seeing it in print :^D
This.
I use 90% los (I have even been using it at work....a lot) No matter how good your portions (and they are Damn good) I will never be a portion guy. Before the Gul died a solid 90% of my must have daily rotation snus in the freezer was a Gotlands or Jakobsson's tin. (I love Anis los but will never buy a roll of it nor could I use it all day)
If I had the option to order a comission run of a los I would fill my freezer with it knowing that in six months or so another los was coming.
As for now....I buy los from those who make plain or classic flavored los (without a smoke flavor element) and hoard the shit out of my stash of gul....and cry when I use it.
Of course we would need a new name. Gotlandssnus Plain Los sounds boring. Suggestions?
Assuming they stick with the Gotland name/tin design(recommended), I'd call it Heritage. It's more like snus from the 19th century, and is probably closer to the original Ettan than Swedish Match's current product is.
Edit:
Calling it "Heritage" leaves room for an extra special limited snus that you can call "Jakob's Reserve". Compete with Swedish Match's Kardus, and kick their asses ;^)
I have tried all of Gotlandsnus's products. If you want to make a dent in the US market...
COME OUT WITH GREEN LOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ITS THE MOST UNIQUE & DIVINE TOBACCO PRODUCT IN THE MOST BEAUTIFUL GREEN CANS.
PLEASE JIMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Id like to see a green los, but honestly all I want from gotlands is gul back. Once (if) it comes back, then maybe I will consider buying their other products.
I prefer the gul in los, but I would be more than happy with portions... Come on jimmy, you know you guys want me for a customer again
Note: at the time of this review Gotlands plain is not for sale. Thank you to Jimmy Karlsson @Gotlandssunus for allowing me to sample both this and the...
God made two kinds of dogs in this world. You are either a lap dog or a scent hound.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Nasal Snuff. I hope you will find this Guide both helpful and informative. I have tried to pool together information and resources that I have collected over my time using snuff so that you can have them all in one place. ...
