    Northerner Ingredients..

Hey.. That Yerba Mate Tea thread got me thinking.. Seems tabacco users like this stuff for some reason and following the discovery by Star and how it helps smokers, it seems like there is something to it..

Now, Northereer Snus is kinda known for putting different things in their snus like turine etc.. What about putting in some yerba mate (mah-TAY) and anatabine (an-AT-a-been) in Northerners Snus? Might make for a REALLY enjoyable snus..

We also know that there is some trouble getting the nic levels doubled in the product so adding something like this might help take it to a new level..

Note to Frank... This is in addition to the higher nic levels that you are going to get for us..lol ... you promised!!

Things that make you go hmmmm...

You have some good ideas here!

By the way, that pronunciation of mate which you emphasized is incorrect.

From this article in the LA Times: http://articles.latimes.com/2009/mar...-nutrition16/2

A 2003 review of all existing studies on yerba mate, published in the journal Head and Neck, confirmed that people who regularly drink large amounts of the tea -- as much as a liter or more each day -- had significantly increased risk of cancers of the esophagus, lungs, mouth, pharynx and larynx.

One study of roughly 1,000 adults in Uruguay, published in the journal Cancer Epidemiology Biomarkers & Prevention in 1996, found the risk of lung cancer to be 60% higher among mate drinkers. Another Uruguayan study, published in the same journal in 2003, found that in a group of about 800 adults, mate drinking tripled the risk of esophageal cancer.

A study published in the journal Epidemiology in 1994 found that drinking mate regularly increased a person's risk of respiratory or digestive cancers by 60% -- leading the authors to conclude that heavy mate consumption could be responsible for as many as 1 in 5 cases of such cancers in southern South America.

I've done enough in my life to contribute to respiratory and esophageal cancer.

        I'll pass...

I hear ya.. I just read that also.. Just throwing ideas around.. But in defense of the the science of Mate Extraction it's kinda like the TSNA levels in tobacco. The suspected cancer causing are called polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. These are abundant in raw leaves but have been removed for the pharm type product..

There are also many positive health benefits to Yerba. You have to work with the weed to get a product that has benefits that can benefit people with reduced harm.. Kinda like Tobacco..

          Peace

PS-that still leaves antabine and the only thing they think it's does could be a huge benifit to people. This stuff could still help ease the cravings in a lower nic level snus.. Which might still be a good thing to a company like TillCE.. Remember, I am no scientist but I love coming up with possible ideas.. That's all...

Yeah and it's also argued that it helps to cure cancer. But if there are causes for cancer than i suspect it is in the copper or other metal straws that is traditionally used to drink through from the gourd. And also the fact that the yerba mate can be smoke cured. You can get an air-cured variety. This has been drank in regions of South America for many years.
