I urgently need low salt or no salt snus :(

I quit smoking using snus but i never realised it had salt in it till last night.

I am not allowed salt. Do any of you make a really low salt or no salt snus please.

    In portions please

Hmmm, I'm not positive on this one but I would try something like Northerner's purified portions (if they still exist) or General's mint. They don't seem very salty.

I'm 99% positive General Mint has salt in it. If you are allowed ZERO salt then I can't think of any in particular. Obviously some are lower in salt than others but I remember reading somewhere that the amount of salt in each portion is much lower then you would think and has basically no effect on blood pressure but don't quote me on that.

There is about 50 mg in a portion, almost any portion, try soaking for a few seconds in running water, and if still too much then it is over for you. I am salt sensitive too. But they all have and need it.

          Makla Platinum. Available at Mr.Snuff
its one of my favorite . It's Loose. I put in tea bag. Packs a punch, excellent tobacco source, looks like mud. Smells like ammonia almost at the first opening but it doesn't have such a taste. Uses so called edible lime as an excipient and can be harsh on the gum over snus but depends on how much you snus and how big of a portion you use and if you use back or up front. It's way under appreciated. They have other flavor but I stick with what I know to be uneventful flavor wise. Sometimes I'm just not in the mood for a flavor event. I just want relief. I've learned as crazy as these snus people get they are really pretty conservative group so you don't hear much about Makla. Low salt. Very low but to salt free. Look up edible lime if it sounds weird and all that good stuff.

Faylool, You know Malka can be some rough stuff right? There is a good reason we avoid Dip and Malka and Chew as far as full time use. Lime is real high PH and can really chew up your gums. But salt is not used, that is correct. Harm reduction plays a part.

But Faylool has about the only answer for you, be aware that Malka is some Kick butt nicotine at 20 plus mg per gram.

Perhaps you could share your Salt situation. Ten portions a day would only be 500 mg if you absorbed it all. There are medications to allow you to tolerate that, I take them. Beats the bad smoking affects.

If you read my post you will see I mentioned this but really, if you haven't tried it then you never know. I'm a 60 year old female and I can deal. It DEPENDS on how often you need it. It depends on the individual. Using tea bag eliminates that high burn. It's an option that's been around a long time and favored by some. It is very low in bad stuff. It sounds like snus people are on some kind of kick back on here some times. What's he deal? It's a whole tobacco experience....without the smoke and salt clearly is harmful for some re harm reduction. I for one found out for myself and have 8 cans in the freezer. Next snuff order I'll get more and like I already said, yeah, it can be rough at first but depending on how much you use it's easy as any other oral tobacco. Peace

Do the crappy American brands (Camel and Marlboro) have salt in them? I know they have artificial sweetner in them (at least I taste it, so I think they do) but I am not sure if they use salt or not in them.

Faylool. You are right! I chewed Betel nut in the past and learned fast just how intense the lime is, and the Malka is about as bad assed as can be, ultra high PH with a mule kick of Nic.. What seems to be a "Kick" for some of us is just a certain concern that many forms of Tobacco use have consequences. It may be easy, but it is no where as friendly. I have learned which methods pose the least long term risk and am sticking with them. A newbie first post about no salt is tough, not much to recommend, but straight to Malka? This might be a vape candidate first.. Snuff, Gum.

You know a lot of the problem is that the salt levels in a lot of snus are there because of the Swedes preference for the salt taste, more so than the need for the salt benefits. I hate the salty taste and always have. I often wash a little salt out before using them, But I keep my nicotine needs on the low side.

I have Bi-Lateral Cons Syndrome Whalen, means i have multiple tumors on either adrenal, i retain salt and this in turn dumps potassium. The last bit being the bad bit. I take 2 kalural to rid myself of salt.

I have been trying to work out some maths and have emailed a few manufacturers to find out how much salt there actually is in them. Thinking maybe i could eliminate something so i could snus. I snus 6 pieces a day of either of these Göteborgs Rapé White Portion - General Mini White Portion-Phantom Classic Mini and i also have a eucalyptus one. 6 to maybe 8 mini pieces. I emailed the seller but they do not know the actual salt levels.

I have had this taste in my mouth and had no idea what it was - now i know its salt - no wonder people add salt to their food yummy lol shame for me its a killer

Well....you have problems beyond mine brother. There is on average 5% salt in snus and additional E500 ph adjusters. Search Swedish Match.

If you know any of this - and prepared to help me I'd ask you how many pieces of mini white portion snus would i need to consume before i had used a flat teaspoon of salt ... i thought if i knew this then i could ring my professor and tell him i am having a teaspoon of salt every ..... weeks (or days) will i die lol

Ok...teaspoon of salt is 2325 mg. A portion of snus is up to 1 gram. That is 1000mg. 5 % is 50 mg. So 2325 divided by 50 is 46.5 portions. It would take two cans a day fully absorbed to get a teaspoon of salt. I average 500 mg a day. Sister.....
