Oh and haaaaaaaaa at diet drink that tastes great - That is funny

I am really grateful that i do not drink that stuff.

Have you ever checked the salt levels in bottled water - that is an omg wow - glad i only drink good old fashioned rain water - I bet though that has salt in it lol

Yes i have had an e-cig - awesome concept but its like trying to say a diet drink taste as good as a real drink lol

I would be tickled pink to grow my own tobacco and make my own snus - problem is that tobacco seeds and tobacco are illegal in australia - stupid stinking government.

We've been through this before with another Australian person ... There are a great many plants in the nicotiana genus and many are grown worldwide for their ornamental scented flowers - these are not banned in Australia.

I would imagine that nicotiana tabacum is the banned species ... It would be worth checking out whether wild tobacco nicotiana Rustica is also banned then check out my threads on making homemade Rustica twist bites which can be salt free. It is one of the easiest tobacco varieties to grow and cure and it is much stronger than the regular stuff so a little goes a long way!

Sometimes wrong and sometimes right .... but ALWAYS certain!!!

The thread I'm talking about is here but I'd suggest doing more personal research.

I'm afraid I've never heard of that one. Nicotiana glauca may be worth a look though.

Really, you spoke to a doctor. I don't even know what that supposed to mean or why they would need to remain anonymous and wow, i can really have snus without a problem now because a anonymous doctor from someone i don't know on an internet forum, told me that there is nothing wrong with salt and woohooo my professors are all idiots and i should now have salt Hey i just spend 4 years listening to a gp and he near killed me but hang on, i now need to listen to this doctor.

Be buggered that my desease is handled by some of the leading experts in the world. I MEAN REALLY - EXCUSE ME FOR BEING RUDE BUT HOW MANY MORE TIMES DO WE NEED TO LISTEN TO MEDICAL ADVISE THATS NOT ASKED FOR.

This is my family desease PRIMARY HYPERALDOSTERONISM http://www.dundee.ac.uk/medther/taye...osteronism.htm

                      What is this?
In this condition the adrenal gland produces too much aldosterone. Excessive aldosterone makes the kidneys retain sodium (salt) and lose potassium into the urine. Loss of potassium particularly affects muscles causing weakness. The high salt causes the blood pressure to rise, in some cases, to dangerous levels with the risk of heart attack or brain haemorrhage.

I have the advanced form - i am Bi Lateral Cons Syndrome - I have mutiple tumors on both of the adrenal glands. I am about to loose both adrenal glands.

I have lived salt free for 27 years and yet my salt levels are thru the roof. PLEASE DO NOT TELL ME AGAIN THAT SALT IS GOOD FOR ME.

Here is just a small bit on my professors http://www.uq.edu.au/uqresearchers/unit/ehru.html

Seriously - these guys have done incredible work in dedicating their lives to conns syndrome and primary hyperalderstonism.

PLEASE, I don't mean to be rude but please ALL I ASKED IS SALT LEVELS AND WERE THEIR SALT FREE SNUSS - I DID NOT ASK FOR MEDICAL ADVICE. If i listened to some of you folks about salt, id be dead

Sorry I angered you. Just passing on what I was told by one of the top doctors in the world. We have two scientists who contribute to our magazine who specialize in tobacco health. Since (as I stated) the consequences and legal ramifications don't allow us to state their names (you can pretty much do a google search for "snus doctors" or "smokeless tobacco science" and figure out who I'm talking about.)

I'm familiar with your condition. I forwarded your post anyway and the response was the same: a slice of bread, a glass of water, a can of snus- all of these are negligible even with your condition. On a human level, I'm just concerned that you're being told that you're close to dying when you have so much life left in you. I see it happen all the time. I've had doctors tell me that I'd never walk again, never lift my arm again, that I was going to die from diabetes, that I was HIV positive, etc etc. So it never hurts to get second, or even third opinions.

I'm not a doctor, but I'm telling you what I was TOLD by a doctor just as you're telling me what you were TOLD by your doctor. No malice intended, just offering my opinion. Sorry it offended you. I'll bow out of the conversation now and you can say as many bad things about me as you want.

I havent been told anything by my doctor yet - I havent been too see him. ???? All thats happened is i know i have to be on a no salt diet and i cheat on a few things - bread and juice - i found out snus was salt so i asked for salt levels and whalen helped with the maths. I worked out that if i stop bread and juice then i could snus ... i did this. My professor has not even seen my maths yet.

And when he gets to see it he may say 'Ray stop being silly, thats fine.' He may say 'Omg no wayyyy' I have no idea what he will say but ty - if you know my disease and can still say that snus should be fine, i shall rest in peace till i get too see him.

No one told me i am near dieing etc but a gp just left me on 2.1 potassium and near damn killed me so now i am pretty dubious on anything doctors say but my prof

                        Sorry if i got cranky

I just finally had time to check out this thread. Welcome to the forum DiRhea. Great job Whalen. In the past much has been discussed here about how much salt is actually in snus. I think Whalen was pretty accurate. DiRhea sorry you are suffering with this or any condition. We all have our crosses to bear. I can't contribute much to this thread that hasn't already been discussed. But if you don't mind...what I can offer you is a few prayers that you find accurate answers to your questions from your doctors and that you remain well.

Good luck and keep posting. We need more young gals around here.

BTW...how do you feel about blue barrels?

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.
