    SM production issues

I was wondering about the process of making portions and the adhesives that are used to seal the portions closed. I have had 2 cans of General Wintergreen where one end of the portions were not sealed correctly and would break open on one end. Also, I just finished a can of Catch Eucalyptus with which I had the same problem with about 1/2 of the portions.

This is an issue that has shown up on the forum from time to time with others as well. Your input would be appreciated, and thanks for joining us here on the forum.

This is an odd thing, and I've seen it happen too. But, I've only seen it happen with white portions---I've never seen it with original portions.

So, yeah. What's up with this, Match?

I suspect the mint(menthol/alcohol) components break down the adhesive over time.

The pouches are made of a Non Woven cellulose based material which contains a binding agent. The pouches are welded together so that the binding agent melts. Sometimes the subcontractor fails to deliver a homogeneous material, meaning that it contains parts where there isn’t enough binding agent. When this happens it results in poorly sealed pouches. This is something that we work with continuously and though we have been able to eliminate this problem to a very low level we still haven’t been able to eliminate it completely. The problem is equally occurring on all types of products.

          Thanks for the input, guys.
I just replied to something dealing with that issue, I lost about eight portions of General Wintergreen to faulty sealants.
That made some Wintergreen loose...lightbulb, anyone?
I'd snus the hell outta that
