Why does General seem so superior?

First of all, as you may know, General Wintergreen is by far my favorite snus so far, followed by General Mini Mint, and Roda Lacket, in that order. Most snus portions seem to be a quite loose tobacco in the pouch, while the Wintergreen seems to come as a formed, hard little square of packed, dough-like tobacco inside the pouch. Why? What is the difference? You can take the Wintergreen, and form it into any shape you want, as opposed to others, where youre just kind of stuck with the loose bag shape it comes in.

    Just a curiosity......

The reason is Owens187, that General wintergreen is a white portion! Therefore being a white portion they do not have the extra step at the end of the production process that makes them moist by spraying water/tobacco juice on them!! I am assuming that all portions look like white portions before that step but after that step, in a regular portion, it moistens the tobacco and it falls apart or rather evens out in the pouch!
Becasue if you havent noticed General wintergreen is kinda dry compared to most other snusses. I hope i answered your question bud!

It's the mint oil they use for it. I noticed/like that about General Wintergreen as well. It's the same oil that causes the bag to bust open 9 times out of 10 as well, but the bag feels so much softer than others. GW is the only snus I can use on the right side of my mouth without any aggravation. General Wintergreen was my favorite when I first started, now I just use it once in a while.

I didn't even think about the mint oil...that does make perfect sense. And I agree that the portions do seem much softer than others. Thanks Vegan!

White portions get a little more compact as there is a step in the process where the product is pressed together. The shape gets slightly different when put in the star formation. As long as the product is fresh (hasn't gone dry) you can always soften it up by massaging it a little ("A Swedish massage" )

Original portions are filled up by blowing in dry tobacco into the pouch. After that we add some moist and because they aren't pressed together they may be experienced as a little softer.

Because we add moist to the pouch it feals a little softer eaven though it is the same pouch material as in white portions. Flavouring actually doesn't make any difference to the pouch material. Black pouches can feel a little different though because of the different pigment of the material.

Thanks for the reply guys!! However the last step is done, keep it up! Ive tried many snus, but General Wintergreen (and Swedish Match products in general) still come out as my favorite!!

I think it'd be really neat to show a video of the portion manufacturing process. hint hint!

This is the closest video I could find. It would be neat to see how the white and original portions are manufactured differently.

I can't wait for the day when you can walk into a liquor store and see a snus fridge stocked like the one toward the end of the video....

I used to mess with it before I put one it but no its just like that.

Take it out, pop it in my mouth, put it in place and get back to doing what I was doing.
