    New flavor.

I enjoy traditionally brewed soda pop form time to time. Today i had a Boylan's Birch beer, and t'was great.

I did then spent most of my day tracking down birch extract (oils) and then flavored some Ettan. Was grande, grande indeed.

So if you Swedish Match Snusologists are rackin your Brains trying to come up with a flavor you can borrow this one, I won't tell a soul.

Birch, interesting idea. Don't know if we ever thought of that. Will take the idea with me.

    Keep blending,
    Best/Joakim

So how much did you use to flavor the snus? Was it portions? Sounds like a good way to make any snus "American" style to me. A drop of stevia and a drop of extract, voila. Do you do a whole can at a time? Anyone else flavor there own snus?

How long did the flavor last?

I do a whole can at a time. I flavor to taste. I dump a whole can in a bowl and add a little at a time till it tastes just right. Usually i will add a drop, then mix, then let breathe then put back in fridge for a day then re-taste. A tin of loose usually lasts no longer than 2 full days (well if the experiment pans out). Will it keep for a long time? No clue.

Cool, does the flavor last for over an hour in your mouth?

Why yes it does. I usually don't keep snus in longer than 1/2 hour, last night i had a huge pris in for 2 and the flavor was still strong.

Sweet, I may stop buying flavored snus all together and just trying my own flavors.

One more question. What are the best sources for extracts? Online, health food stores... etc.?

So far I am thinking of making a wet mixture with water soluble flavorings, stevia, a little water, and perhaps some baking soda to adjust the PH if necessary.

I think this might work better then oils to flavor portions.

If all goes well I can imagine buying only rolls of Ettan and maybe for minis some Taboca strong or Phantom minis since they are cheap and strong. Possibly the new swedish style Disceet. Then I think I could make this snus thing even a little cheaper for myself while having virtually unlimited variety.

I have been buying mine at nutters (health food store). Online looks more promising, more extracts at a cheaper price.

Yeah i guy saves a bit of money this way.

Birch sounds interesting. It's already being used by Swedish Match in their dip, just not in their snus.

                      Composite list - dip
                      Composite list - snus

I'm personally interested in taking some Grov and spicing it up with some bergamot oil and/or liquid smoke.

P.S. some ingredients are not obvious on those composite lists. You won't find bergamot listed but it is there. sneaky.

I ordered peach, amaretto, lavender, mandarin orange, and root beer (in honor of Discreet). I also picked up some liquid stevia so next week I should be doing some experimenting.

I read a review of Phantom Classic brown, that said it was like Grov with liquid smoke.

I don't really get smoke out of the Phantom Brown, and it isn't listed in the ingredients. It tastes like a smokeless Grov(80%) mixed with Göteborgs Rapé(20%) to me.

How about releasing an unflavored snus and selling flavor packs?
