General Maxi, say it isn't so

    J&M

I realize you guys have probably gone for the holiday and are getting ready to watch "Kalle Anka" but tell me that Northerner's report that you are discontinuing General Maxi is a mistake. I just can't believe it isn't a bigger seller than say Probe. Please tell me that this is a lie; give me a Christmas miracle.

I can't say I'm surprised. I think Maxis are a holdover from a time when there wasn't any strong snus. The only way to get more nicotine then the standard snus was to make it bigger. With the many choices in strong and ES there is no longer much need for it.

I can understand how some people might actually like the larger size but the trend is smaller. I can't imagine the sales of maxis are very high. Probably not worth it to keep the special machines needed to make them up and running.

Don't get me wrong, if you really like the stuff I feel for you. But I can't imagine the sales were very high, and are likely falling.

A big strike against the maxi portions is that you get only 14 pieces in a can. Why buy those when you can get 24 sterks? Sure, some people who are after more nicotine prefer the flavor of regular snus enough to buy the maxis anyway, but probably not enough. Couple that with the extra-large portion being a turnoff for some ppl, and I can see where maybe it isn't a strong seller. There have been other maxis, now gone; only Granit seems to be the other maxi you see most places. It probably wouldn't break the retailers' hearts if they could just eliminate that whole category. Heck, it's almost eliminated itself at this point. I wouldn't be surprised if Granit follows suit fairly soon.

          Bingo :!:

Once you have a line set up to run, it cost money to shut it down and switch over your tooling. Once your sales drop below a certain level it's not profitable anymore.

I'm just hoping that the line they run 01/02s gets used for snus that I like. The same way that Onyx spawned N&J Black.

Listen, it is cheaper to take grandpa out back and shoot him than to feed and clothe him but it doesn't make it right, goddammit.

Thanks Grover, I have entered the "Acceptance" stage of grief and decided to use more los once I run out of Maxi.

I really believe if General Maxi was included with the snus that was sent to sell in American shops, it would be the biggest seller.
